radeon ati 9250 driver issue solved

Radeon ati 9250 driver issue solved

I tried installing ati's beta drivers for Vista. This was a disaster that forced the computer into VGA mode and lost the original generic 9250 MS drivers. After I uninstalled the ati drivers and catylyst center, the system kept trying to install standard vga drivers which installed with errors each time.
In desparation I tried putting the origianl ATI CD rom in the machien and havign drievr update scan that. It did and found ati drivers from 2004 (!), whch were isntalled without error and work great!!

Is your computer display using Aero Glass now with the ATI Radeon 9250?

I forgot to say that it is 128MB

Is your card an AGP or PCI card?

Yes.

It is AGP X 8
Manufacturer : ATI Technologies Inc (Ge-Cube) Model : Radeon 9250 (RV280) Bus Type : AGP Total Memory : 128 MB Texture Memory : 177 MB Processor : RADEON 9200 Series AGP (0x5960) Converter : Internal DAC(400MHz) Refresh Rate (min/max) : / Hz

How it's possible that Aero Glass is running with 2004 drivers and a card that doesn't support pixel shader 2.0?
Regards, Angel.

Yes.

Sadly for me, your experience is the exception. No luck with my Sapphiretech 256Mb 9250 on 32 bit Vista. I am happy for your sake though. Good luck!!!!
